Second Paper Subject

My second paper subject is Art in Second Life.

Thesis statement revised

This is my revised thesis statement.

"Sexuality online allows people to explore opportunities sexually that are almost unimaginable for some such as age differences of over 10 years, hidden genders, changing appearances, and "playing the game" leaving emotions out."

Subject Choice and Thesis Statement

This took a lot of thought ( and conversation between myself, my roommates and friends online), and i've decided to do my first short paper assignment on the subject of Sexuality. I wanted to leave this fairly open ended because I haven't quite decided which area to specify on. Age differences aren't as big a deal online as they tend to be in real life. The same goes for appearance and gender. With an online relationship, most tend to have feelings for the subject, even if they don't plan on it.



Sexuality on the internet can be taken in many different directions, such as homosexuality, cross-gender exploration, and anything that the person can imagine. Some of these relationships are games with no personal attachments while others can control a life, like a real life relationship. These online relationships bridge gaps that are impassible to some in real life, such as age, race, and origins, and show the materialistic world in which we live.

The Adventures of the Red Panda

It was tough getting time to explore today considering that my computer wouldn't let me log on for most of the morning (and early afternoon). Dr. Carter, it turns out that the problem was specific to my account (and the others' accounts too) and it wouldn't let me log on at home. That and I had to work right after class, but I made time!

I teleported to Foxboro via the StarGate and found.. no one. It was actually refreshing to find it empty considering as I shopped earlier in the day, I heard people voicechatting about my avatar, calling it stupid and such. Ahh, Cest la vie I suppose. I chose this avatar on purpose, and I plan to write about Furries/Anthros in different aspects of First Life and Second Life, but more about that later!

Anyway! As I entered the map, I saw a few pretty neat things around. There was a nice greenhouse and a bar, but what really caught my interest was the pink flamingo. I actually spent a chunk of time trying to fly onto it's back which happened once, then I promptly fell off before taking the picture.

Introducing... Me! Well, not really.

So here's my oh so interesting post about my character! Yeah, my character's a "Furry" but I like the term "Anthro" better. Furry implies more sexual things than i'd like to consider. She'll probably change from time to time. She's a Red Panda currently, but I don't like how the spikes show through the hair. I saw a girl with dreads earlier as I was shopping. They looked pretty cool.

Well, if you have any problems remembering who I am, just look for the "Anthro"!
